“90404 Changing” is a multi-dimensional feature-length film that employs a unique form of story-telling which blends standard documentary coverage with dramatic narrative. The film details the history of an historic culturally diverse area within Santa Monica that is being lost mostly due to accelerating development and gentrification. The film follows two locals, a Mexican-American teacher (Paulina Sahagun) who decides to make a documentary about her neighborhood and a black poet (Barry Shabaka Henley) who is knowledgeable about the hidden history of the area. We watch as their paths cross, and they ultimately join forces to excavate the moving and often surprising stories of this neighborhood bounded by 14th Street on the West, Pico Blvd on the South, Cloverfield Ave. on the East and Santa Monica Blvd on the North.
